Anti Aging Skincare Guide - Top Ten Mistakes That Lead To WrinklesCopyright 2007 - HealthySkinCareTreatments.com
By avoiding these common skincare mistakes, you'll be ahead of the game when it comes to preventing wrinkles and having younger looking skin.
And if you're already experiencing the signs of aging, this information can be used to lessen and even reverse much of the damage already in
place.
Here's our top ten list of anti aging skin care mistakes... avoid them to keep from looking old before your time:
1. Using tanning beds or booths - Many people believe that a tan produced at a tanning salon is safer than one from
old-fashioned sunbathing. In fact, many salons actually promote this idea in their marketing and advertising campaigns. The simple truth is this
- tanned skin is damaged skin and this leads to premature aging and the development of wrinkles. In many cases it also results in various forms
of skin cancer, some of which are deadly. Assuming you want to avoid wrinkled skin and premature death, avoid tanning beds completely. And use
good sense when spending a lot of time in the sun as well. While small doses of sunlight are actually good for you and promote your body's
production of necessary vitamins such as Vitamin D, too much can be dangerous. If you plan to be outside for any length of time, be sure to apply
plenty of sunscreen protection.
2. Getting too little rest - You know, there is a reason that going to bed at a reasonable hour is called beauty sleep. You
actually need adequate good-quality sleep for your body and mind to function properly. A proper resting cycle rejuvenates and replenishes your
body resulting in continued good health. Get too little and you'll not only feel bad, your looks will suffer too. Chronic sleep deprivation can
lead to permanent health and skin damage.
3. Allowing yourself to become dehydrated - Many people are in a constant state of dehydration and it often shows in both
their energy levels and appearance. Get in the habit of drinking plenty of water and cutting down on beverages that tend to encourage dehydration
such as sodas and alcohol. In addition, take steps to keep the surface of your skin hydrated with good quality moisturizing products such as
creams or serums. Remember, the opposite of plump, supple and moist is wrinkled, sagging and dry.
4. Wearing too much makeup or using outdated application techniques - When girls are young they want to look older and they
often accomplish this by wearing a lot of makeup. While many of them tone it down as they get older, many continue their heavily made-up
look well into their later years. Too much makeup will do more harm than good after a certain age. In addition, it's a good idea to use softer
colors and healthier formulations as you age. Mineral formulations are popular today and tend to work well with aging skin by deflecting
attention away from wrinkles and lines. These mineral make up options also tend to be beneficial to the skin.
5. Eating a steady diet of processed foods - With the hectic pace we all lead today, it is increasingly difficult to eat the
right foods. Instead we order take-out, eat drive-thru burgers and grab on-the-go snacks. Not only is this type of eating harmful to your overall
health, a poor diet will eventually show up on your skin. You've probably heard it over and over... your skin is a reflection of what you put
into your body and gives an indication of your overall health. Most often, looking good is the result of being healthy.
