No Facial Skin Care Program Is Complete Without This
It should come as no surprise that the cornerstone to any facial skin care program is proper cleansing. Without it, you may as well toss your skincare regimen right out the window – cleansing the face is that important.
A good routine will include facial cleansing each morning as well as every evening. By starting off each day with clean skin, your skin care product line will work effectively and your make up will go on smoothly. Skip this step and you’ll never look as good as you could.
Using a good face wash in the evening is even more important. After a full day of wearing make up and exposing your skin to the environment, an unbelievable amount of dirt and oil accumulate on it’s surface. If you’re like many others, you might even spread more of this grime to your face from your hands by touching your face periodically throughout the day. Left alone, this dirt and oil will clog pores and cause skin problems. And, you’ll be left with a not-so-attractive complexion.
Good skin care requires nothing more than choosing products appropriate for your skin type and forming a habit to use them consistently. Here are some general guidelines to get the most out of your cleansing routine:
- Lift your hair away from your face by pulling it back with a headband or into a ponytail. This will make it easier to cleanse your entire face, right up to your hairline.
- Use care when removing mascara and other eye makeup since the skin around your eyes is extremely delicate. Use a soft touch or cotton balls to gently clean this area and avoid excessive stretching of the skin.
- For the rest of your face, apply a good cleanser liberally and massage over the face. Pay special attention to oily areas prone to blemishes.
- Use warm water to rinse away the cleanser completely and pat dry with a soft towel. If you want a quick wake-up call during your morning routine you can also splash some cold water on your face – refreshing!
After cleansing, proceed with the rest of your skin care regimen. What you do next will depend on whether it’s morning or evening since different products are often used at these times. Most likely you’ll follow up with a toner if your skin requires it and then finish with some type of moisturizing treatment.
Other possibilities depend upon your individual needs and may include acne treatments, anti aging skin care serum or any number of other remedies. Whatever the case for your skin, everyone shares one thing in common – facial cleansing is a step that simply cannot be skipped. Make sure it is the first part of your facial skin care program. It is the best habit you can develop for you skin’s appearance and health.
